1559 Best practices in integrated vector management: successes and challenges in local mosquito control
Wednesday, November 16, 2011: 3:55 PM
Room A11, First Floor (Reno-Sparks Convention Center)
Vector control agencies face current challenges with changing requirements for NPDES permitting and water quality monitoring. In 2010, the California Department of Public Health, in cooperation with the Mosquito and Vector Control Association of California, published a statewide document detailing recommended Best Management Practices. The impact of the NPDES process and BMP adoption on community-wide integrated vector management will be discussed from the perspective of the Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District. Future success for this and other Districts will depend on the collaboration of public information and outreach, control, and surveillance from agency to national levels.
