Successful malaria management in Mali includes the use of pyrethroids for mosquito control. Unfortunately, management is threatened by the spread of the kdr mutation, a single nucleotide polymorphism that infers resistance. We analyzed the frequency and relationship between the kdr genotypes and resistance to pyrethroids by subjecting individual Anopheles gambiae and Culex pipiens mosquitoes to bioassays and then related knockdown time to the various kdr genotypes. Results will be presented.
