The relative incidence of Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) to thrips vector populations was compared across thrips management treatments in 2009 and 2010. The first year experienced severe TSWV pressure and the second was almost negligible. In general, higher early thrips numbers resulted in greater incidence of TSWV. We discuss what constitutes a damaging level of thrips.
