Requiem 25EC is a novel plant extract-based insecticide/miticide. The product was registered by the U. S. EPA in December of 2008. Requiem is an essential oil extract of Chenopodium ambrosioides, near ambrosioides a plant closely related to common lambsquarter whose center of origin is Central America. The formulated product contains a suite of compounds that have a range of modes of action: degradation of the exoskeleton, degradation of the tracheal tube lining, and feeding deterrent. It has significant activity on soft bodied insects such as: thrips, whiteflies, mites and aphids. It is safe to all beneficial insects, predatory mites, and pollinators. This presentation will provide background on the development of the product and bioassay information discussing its utility in pest management.
