Danger and the evolution of immunity
Any organism faces three main tasks that require an immune system: pathogens, homeostasis and symbionts.
Here I will discuss what the implications of this are in understanding the evolution of insect immunity. This talk will draw on other talks in this symposium. Moreover I will use an evolutionary ecology framework to explore examples of how complex immune responses can be understood in an adaptive sense.
