Systems thinking allows conceptualizing the different parameters in a study system, and understanding their interactions, and their individual and collective risks and benefits. Using the systems software STELLA, we developed a model of the Miscanthus × giganteus crop system to understand parameters influencing production of this biomass crop.  The flexible model platform also allows use by stakeholders, who can include or exclude site-specific parameters to facilitate informed decision making.
