A 2011 revision of two of three subgenera of Nearctic Eupelmus Dalman (Hymenoptera: Eupelmidae: Eupelminae) necessitated study of some species from the Palaearctic region in order to establish correct nomenclature in the Nearctic. Although preliminary, study resulted in the discovery that some classical Palaearctic names were misinterpreted or consisted of cryptic species complexes, particularly in what had been defined by various authors as the urozonus species-group of the subgenus E. (Eupelmus).  A review of the Palaearctic species of Eupelmus was initiated to resolve the generic and the subgeneric status of all species currently classified in Eupelmus as well as a more formal revision of E. (Eupelmus) to document the number and identity of the species of the subgenus in the region. The results of the study will be summarized and the Eupelmus faunas of the Palaearctic and Nearctic regions compared.
