Heteranassa (Smith) is a variable genus of moths native to the desert regions of the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico. Specimens from throughout the range of the genus have been examined, as well as type material associated with the genus. All literature related to the genus has been reviewed, and reviews of the taxonomic history and natural history will be provided. Additionally Heteranassa will be reared from eggs to adulthood to provide more detailed descriptions of both larval and adult morphology and natural history.
