Rice water weevil management demonstrations have been conducted for the past three field seasons. The purpose of these demonstrations is to evaluate some currently available insecticides to control rice water weevils in Louisiana rice fields. These trials are a joint effort between the County Agent, farmer, consultant, seed dealers and chemical distributors. In 2010 the demonstration test is comparing the relative efficacy of two seed treatments: Dermacor X-100 and CruiserMaxx to Pyrethroids (Karate Z and MustangMax) for the control or prevention of rice water weevil larvae.
