Taking the Bait- A Three-tiered perspective of using Optigard® Liquid Ant bait

Ants are the number one problem for PCOs around residential homes in the United States. Many sugar loving ants are liquid feeders, yet few liquid ant baits are used successfully in the outdoor market. Three experiments were designed to evaluate the use of liquid ant baits outside. The first experiment tested ant preference for taking liquid baits from the three most popular bait stations on the market today. A second experiment was designed to understand the ease with which PCOs could use liquid bait stations including the Optigard® Liquid Ant Bait product. The third experiment was created to understand the perspectives of homeowners using liquid ant baits and bait stations around the home and any potential drawbacks (e.g. child interest, dog marking, etc.) associated with such use.
