Filth flies including stable flies are serious pests that have caused billions of dollars losses in agricultural/urban settings and livestock industry. Filth flies develop in rotting, decaying or fermenting organic matters frequently associated with animal production systems. The current presentation reports the newest findings on: 1). Isolation and identification of attractant compounds that may be use as cues by filth flies for host and oviposition site seeking; 2). Discovery of new botanical-based repellents and antifeedants that can be used for reducing their direct damages on animals; 3). Developing novel techniques for future Push-Pull deployments in integrated fly management.
