In order to study the effects of pyriproxyfen (an insect growth regulator compounds) on cellular energy allocation of Heterometabol insect Brachynema germari Kol., the fifth instar of this insect was treated with 0, 20, 60, 100, 200 & 500 mg/l formulation of pyriproxyfen (Admiral 10EC) and the amount of energy available (Ea), energy consumption (Ec) and cellular energy allocation(CEA) was compared. The results of calculated energy reserves (carbohydrate, glycogen, lipid and protein) showed that the amount of total lipid had significant difference among different doses and between different doses and control. The amount of lipid showed reducing trend until 200 mg/l dose and then increased from 200 to 500 mg/l. A significant difference was observed in total carbohydrate between different doses with control; but there weren't any significant difference among different doses. The amount of glycogen, total protein and also the amount of energy consumption didn't have significant difference with control. Results of CEA showed that in low concentrations, pyriproxyfen caused an increase in cellular energy allocation and decreased in high concentrations.
