The beetle family Phalacridae is revised at the genus level for the world, and a total of 35 genera are recognized. Twenty-two genus-group names are newly synonymized, one generic name is resurrected, one genus is removed from Phalacridae, and three new genera are recognized. All genera studied are assigned to one of two traditionally recognized subfamilies, Phalacrinae and Phaenocephalinae. A preliminary phylogenetic analysis is performed and hypotheses about higher-level relationships within the family are presented.
