Research was conducted in the summer of 2008 evaluating lambda cyhalothrin and methoxyfenozide applied on mummies and new crop pistachios and Tulare and Madera counties. The duration of control was evaluated by periodically removing nuts and challenging them in the laboratory with navel orangeworm eggmasses. Adult emergence was contrasted between sprayed pistachios and unsprayed control nuts. In addition, the ability of these insecticides to penetrate infested nuts was evaluated by monitoring adult emergence from infested mummies collected immediately before spraying and at 2 and four days after application.
