Trapping studies using pheromone lures designed for Old World Spodoptera Guenée species were conducted in various Florida and southern Texas locations. Commercially-produced lures for S. exempta (Walker), S. littoralis (Boisduval), and S. litura (F.) were used with plastic Unitraps near orchid nurseries and in agricultural settings. Thousands of resident species were collected, including S. albula (Walker) (=S. sunia Guenée), S. dolichos (F.), S. eridania (Stoll), S. exigua (Hübner), S. frugiperda (J. E. Smith), S. latifascia (Walker), S. ornithogalli (Guenée), and S. pulchella (Herrich-Schäffer).
