The introduced woodwasp, Sirex noctilio, is thought to be intolerant of fungi, other than its own symbiont, in its habitat. Therefore, extant woodborers (e.g. scolytids) could affect woodwasp success by introducing blue stain fungi into the tree. We examine the response of S. noctilio to the presence of fungi vectored by scolytids and explore possible effects on wasp distribution and development.
