An issue of concern for agriculture and for public health is the development of resistance to insecticides. Insects have the potential to develop resistance to insecticides, particularly if products with the same mode of action are regularly used against them. Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency have worked together to develop a system of resistance management labelling for pest control products, particularly agricultural products. This presentation will focus mainly on the resistance management framework of the PMRA's regulatory activities and what solutions may be proposed in the future.
