Aquatic Insect samples have been taken monthly 1976-1977 and quarterly from 1978 to present in Four Holes Swamp, the world’s largest virgin cypress-tupelo swamp forest. The swamp is located in the Francis Beidler Forest (managed by NAS) in Berkley/Dorchester County in South Carolina. The monitoring of this Edisto River tributary is sponsored by the National Audubon Society and is thought to be the longest running, continuous stream quality biomonitoring project in the country. Trends in the aquatic insect data from the past 30 years will be presented.
