Neonicotinoid insecticide seed treatments and new Bt corn hybrids were evaluated for insect control at two locations in 2007 and 2008 in South Carolina. This work is the first comprehensive assessment of these technologies in the state. Insect pressure at the seedling stages was low in both years. Bt hybrids provided significant control of whorl and ear worms. The value of using such technologies is discussed.
