Parasitoid wasps of the genus Scelio are important biological control agents of their hosts, grasshoppers and locusts of the family Acrididae (Orthoptera). The genus is worldwide in distribution and the species of the Nearctic and Australian regions have recently been treated. We are revising the species of the Neotropical region, including a review of all species concepts, databasing of label metadata, and imaging. This work is being conducted as a component of the Platygastroidea Planetary Biodiversity Inventory.
