The current distribution of the cobblestone tiger beetle, Cicindela marginipennis, was determined by a survey of the Whitewater River in southeastern Indiana and the Great Miami River in southwestern Ohio. The beetle’s distribution is now restricted to a single county in Indiana, although it has expanded its range in southwest Ohio during the past decade. Habitat preference was examined through cobble and substrate analysis by comparing locations harboring large beetle populations to areas where the beetles had been collected in the past but have since disappeared.
