Influence of simulated armyworm defoliation on wheat produced for seed

Timothy Kring, tkring@uark.edu, University of Arkansas, Dept. of Entomology AGRI 321, Fayetteville, AR

Armyworm may completely defoliate wheat late in the production season in Arkansas with no impact on grain yield or test weight. However, the impact of defoliation on wheat grown for seed production is unknown. Tests were conducted to evaluate the impact of defoliation timed to simulate armyworm feeding on yield, test weight and germination characteristics of wheat produced for seed.
