Tests were performed in 2003, 2004, and 2005 to determine the efficacy of cotton expressing 2 lepidopteran-active Cry proteins against a robust complex of lepidopteran cotton pests in two cotton growing areas of Burkina Faso. In all three years pest efficacy, plant damage, and yield protection data indicated that the Cry1Ac/Cry2Ab combination of Bollgard®II provides excellent protection of cotton and shows great potential for improving yields and economic benefits for small growers in the region.
