One of these beetles is not like the other: Geographic variation vs. sub-speciation in willow-feeding Calligrapha (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)

Geographic variability is demonstrated in two willow-feeding species of Calligrapha (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae); C. multipunctata and C. verrucosa. Specimens were studied from museum holdings and collected in the field. Possibility of sub-speciation is considered, as well as the controversy surrounding the designation of sub-species.

Species 1: Coleoptera Chrysomelidae Calligrapha multipunctata
Species 2: Coleoptera Chrysomelidae Calligrapha verrucosa
