The soybean aphid was first detected in Kansas in 2002. Since that time we have been monitoring soybean fields to determine its distribution within the state. In 2004, aphids were reported in 64 of the 105 counties in Kansas with populations extending all the way to the Colorado border. In 2005, populations were much lighter and only 11 counties in Northeast Kansas reported finding aphids. We will report on the findings for 2002 through 2006 and try to associate them with general weather conditions.
