Sampling to detect and monitor Diaprepes abbreviatus and other Otiorhynchids associated with citrus: state of the science and challenges for the future

David G. Hall, dhall@ushrl.ars.usda.gov, USDA-ARS- USHRL, 2001 S. Rock Rd, Ft. Pierce, FL

Management strategies for Diaprepes abbreviatus and other citrus root weevil species in Florida can be optimized by monitoring emergence of adults from the soil. Detection and sampling methods for these weevils can be important for both regulatory and research purposes. This presentation explores progress in developing effective sampling methods for citrus root weevils and identifies major deficiencies associated with current options.

Species 1: Coleoptera Curculionidae Diaprepes abbreviatus (Diaprepes root weevil)
