Trogid beetles and mites: Host-symbiont relationships

Phoretic and parasitic mites of 23 families were found on 120 species of trogid beetles (Coleoptera: Trogidae). Among the adult trogid beetles examined, 952, or 27.73%, harbored mites. Up to 292 mites occurred per beetle. A list of trogid species and their associated mite species is presented.
