Cutworm control on Pacific Northwest mint

Ronald Wight, Douglas Walsh, and Timothy Waters. Washington State University, Department of Entomology, 24106 North Bunn Road, Prosser, WA

Insecticides have been field evaluated over the past several years to determine their potential for controlling early-spring spotted cutworms on spearmint and peppermint crops grown in Washington State. Folier and chemigation treatments have been evaluated. Cutworm populations were estimated by counting the number on caterpillars present at or just below the soil surface in a ½ meter quadrant prior to and following insecticide applications.

Species 1: Lepidoptera Noctuidae Amanthes c-nigrunm (spotted cutworm)
Species 2: Lepidoptera Noctuidae Euxoa ochrogaster
Keywords: insecticide efficacy, chemigation
