Potential agriculture pests

Kenneth R. Lakin, Plant Epidemiology and Risk Analysis Laboratory, USDA-APHIS-PPQ, Plant Epidemiology and Risk Analysis Laboratory, 1017 Main Campus Drive, Suite 2500, Raleigh, NC

An interactive database of invasive alien plant pests of concern to American agriculture is available on the Internet at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ppq/regpestlist/. This database has been updated with new tables to provide information such as: 1. Host plants, and associated commodities on which the pest species has been detected at American ports. 2. Distribution data in relation to the United States, i.e., is the pest species not known to occur in the United States, or is the pest species present and under regulatory control.

This database provides: 1. Commodity research scientists with the identity of invasive alien plant pests that may become established in the United States on given commodities. 2. Foreign commodity groups interested in exporting to the United States with an official USDA-APHIS-PPQ list of Regulated Plant Pests of concern to the United States. 3. Federal and State agricultural regulators with current plant pest information, facilitating safeguarding activities such as pre-clearance inspection at ports of entry, exotic pest surveys, and eradication activities.
