Robert Starke, Todd DeGooyer, Ty T. Vaughn, and Jay Pershing. Monsanto Company, Technology Development, 800 North Lindbergh, St. Louis, MO

Monsanto Company has developed a transgenic approach for controlling corn rootworm larval feeding by expressing Cry 3Bb1 Bt protein in the roots of corn. In 2001 and 2002 academic field trials, YieldGard Rootworm provided corn rootworm larval control equal to or superior to commercial standards. A summary of efficacy data from 2001 and 2002 academic field trials will be discussed.

Species 1: Coleoptera Chrysomelidae Diabrotica (Western Corn Rootworm, Northern Corn Rootworm)
