During the past few years, calico scale has become a severe pest on several types of trees important to Kentucky landscapes, particularly horse farms. We observed crawler distribution within the tree canopy, scale fecundity on various host trees, and parasitoid emergence from scales. Additionally, we evaluated various management practices for calico scale that might be useful on horse farms or other landscapes. We will be presenting data on our observations of these ecological factors and management strategies.

Species 1: Homoptera Coccidae Eulecanium cerasorum (calico scale)
Keywords: Life history, pest management
