Studies examine various control options for sugarcane aphid on sorghum.   Yield loss studies showed almost complete loss of grain yield without effective control.  The only effective inseciticde were Transform WG and Sivanto 200SL.  Neonicotinoid insecticide seed treatments also provide about 30 days control on seedling plants.  Commercial sorghum varieties varied in tolerance and susceptibilty to sugarcane aphid feeding injury.  Effective management of sugarcane aphid will require an integrated approach of plant reistance, and mutilpe insecticide control strategies.
