Current control strategies for bed bugs are limited and many times ineffective. Ingestible pesticides have been successfully deployed against other blood feeding arthropods. This suggests that there is great potential for bed bugs to be targeted with this approach. Insect growth regulators (IGRs) are usually incorporated with another pesticide for application. However here, hydroprene and (S)-methoprene, were evaluated for their sub-lethal effects and ability to cause disruption to further population growth on their own.
