Bed bugs became a common urban pest in the U.S. and continue to spread among communities. A critical step in preventing bed bugs and managing them is bed bug detection. This is especially important after treatment for evaluating treatment success.  There are little research data available on how to economically and effectively detect bed bugs. We conducted a series of evaluations in multifamily dwellings to compare various bed bug monitoring tools and methods. This presentation provides the first comprehensive analysis of the current bed bug monitoring tools and methods. The most cost-effective bed bug monitoring protocol for individual homes and multi-unit dwellings will be discussed. The information will be valuable to researchers, property managers, and pest management professionals.
