Currently 160 eriophyoid mites are reported in or were described from Brazil, associated with introduced or native plants. In this presentation, we are going to give an historical approach on the taxonomic studies with eriophyoid mites in the country, regions where surveys have been conducted and areas from where scarce information is available or that can even be considered "untouched".  Then we are going to discuss about the main agricultural problems caused by eriophyoid mites in the country, and research that have been developed to manage them. Gaps and perspectives on the knowledge of eriophyoid mites in Brazil is going to be discussed.
