Mosquito populations are notoriously difficult to monitor and to control. Here ISCA Technologies introduces two novel management tools. The first, the Laser Bug Sensor, is a monitoring tool that not only detects, but also instantaneously identifies and classifies the flying mosquito to the species level with very high (>95%) levels of accuracy. The laser bug sensor automates the daunting task of counting, separating and identifying mosquitoes to the species level, providing users with a 24/7 stream of accurate population field data on which to base their decisions. The second, VectraxTM, is a mosquito adulticide technology that attracts disease-carrying male and female mosquitoes by mimicking the scent and taste of nectar. These attractants also induce mosquitoes to feed on the formulation, which, when blended with a small amount of an insecticide, results in an attract and kill formulation that effectively targets mosquito vector species while leaving non-target organisms unharmed. When sprayed on vegetation or structures outside residential areas and public spaces, VectraxTM will attract and kill outdoor biting mosquitoes before they can bite a host and indoor biters before they can enter households in search of blood meals. As an inexpensive, efficacious, and easy-to-apply mosquito control formulation specifically designed for outdoor use, this product will address a critical weakness, the emphasis on indoor biting mosquitoes, in current efforts to eradicate malaria as well as other vector-transmitted diseases, improving the health and quality of life of people living in endemic regions around the globe.
