The phylogeny of the water beetle family Noteridae (Coleoptera: Adephaga) is inferred from molecular sequence data of five gene fragments. Taxon sampling includes representatives of nearly all described genera and several adephagan outgroups. Resulting trees based on a variety of analyses provide a robust phylogenetic estimate that contradicts previous phylogenetic reconstructions of the family. Relationships among the genera and classification within the Noteridae are discussed within the context of this new phylogeny.
