Recently, scientific literacy has been brought to the forefront of science education and is gaining prominence in entomology. Scientific literacy is a measure of an individual’s understanding of science and also indicates a person’s appreciation for the topic. Invertebrate literacy is a phrase that is still being defined and was a topic of discussion at the Invertebrate Education and Conservation Conference (IECC). We postulate that a greater diversity of invertebrates in Insectariums will increase a person’s appreciation and understanding of them. We plan to survey species diversity of insectariums and invertebrate literacy of the visitors across the United States. Lastly, we predict a positive correlation between the two variables.
