This study was designed to evaluate the field performance of Corn containing Herculex® XTRA hybrids (Cry34Ab1/Cry35Ab1)andSmartStax® hybrids (Cry3Bb1 + Cry34Ab1/Cry35Ab1)technologies on sites with high western corn rootworm (WCRW) pressure.  The study was conducted over numerous locations across the Midwestern United States.  Treatments included a null, null plus in furrow insecticide, Herculex® XTRA hybrids, and SmartStax® hybrids. Data shows that at sites with high pressure or unexpected injury on Cry 3 expressing hybrids from WCRW, the root protection in pyramided hybrids was greater than either single trait hybrids or conventional hybrids treated with soil applied insecticide at planting.
