Dendrocerus, like much of Ceraphronoidea, can be a problematic taxon to work with. Intraspecies morphological variability is high, while interspecies variability can be low. To revise the Neararctic Dendrocerus, I am using an integrative taxonomical approach which combines morphological and molecular data. I use various imaging techniques, such as bright field and confocal laser scanning microscopy, dissections, and mitochondrial DNA to attempt to resolve the relationships within this group.
