The jewel beetles are one of the most well-known and visually appealing groups of beetles. Buprestids are the 8th largest beetle family, but despite their diversity and recognizability, the higher classification of the group remains largely unresolved. Here we present the first molecular phylogeny for the family based on molecular data from eight loci: 12S, 16S, 18S, 28S (rDNA), COI (mtDNA), H3, Wng, and CAD (nuclear protein-coding).
