Pacific spider mite is a significant pest of almonds in the lower San Joaquin Valley of California.  Orchards are typically sprayed one to three times per year in order to prevent foliar damage and defoliation.  Over the past decade a larger number of miticides have become available for use in almonds.  Our work has focused on determining the effectivess of these products and in helping growers determine which products to use in different situations.  This presentation will discuss characteristics of registered products (Agra-Mek, Apollo, Envidor, Fujimite, Onager, Vigilant and Zeal) as well as two new miticides currently in the registration process (Magister and Nealta).
