Distribution and re-description of Belenois aurota F. (Pieridae: Lepidoptera) from Pakistan

Belenois aurota (Fabricius 1793) belongs to family Pieridae; it is a small to medium size butterfly commonly called “The Pioneer White”. This species mostly found in Africa and South Asia. The ground color of this species is white with brown-veined.  The specimens were collected from different localities of Pakistan and preserved in entomology laboratory, department of Zoology, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, Pakistan. For the examination of internal male and female genitalia, abdomen of specimen was removed from the body and, boiled into 10% KOH (Potasisum hydroxide) for five minutes, then dissected with the help of fine forceps under binocular microscope. Belenois aurota F. is re-described, based on external morphology, which includes colouration of wings, structure of mouthparts, maxillary palpi and internal male and female genitalia. The distribution of Belenois aurota F. is given from Pakistan.
