Abstract:

In recent decades, mites of family stigmaeidae have extensively been focused due to their high predatory potential to regulate sucking mites and insect pest complex. Members of genus Agistemus (Acari: Stigmaeidae) have proved themselves as most promising bio-control agents all over the world. A survey was conducted to explore the predatory mite fauna of Punjab (Pakistan), the holotype of new species of genus Agistemus was collected from city Okara from pumpkin crop (Cucurbita maxima) and has been described in this research paper. Seventeen (17) paratypes were collected from the same collection data and six (6) were collected from Sahiwal from cucumber (Cucumis sativus). All specimens were deposited in the Acarology Research Laboratory, Department of Entomology, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan.
