The genus Ambrysus is one of two hyperdiverse genera of Naucoridae in the New World and reaches its greatest diversity in Mexico.  Currently, 38 species are known from Mexico, however most are based on only one or a few specimens from single collection events.  Therefore, the range of phenotypic variation was unknown, which may have resulted in multiple descriptions for the same taxon.  The taxonomic status and distributions of the species of Ambrysus from Mexico will be presented.  Emphasis will be placed on species with an unambiguous identity (either described or new) based on useful diagnostic features, and species that require further study, particularly those that require the examination of type specimens in order to clarify their status as valid or potential synonyms.
