Although Fusohericia lawrencei Baker & Crossley and Hericia janehenleyi Fashing, two closely related algophagid species, both inhabit sap flux on trees, they differ considerably in their life-history strategies.  Although they have morphologically similar mouthparts and a similar diet, they differ considerably in their adaptations for mating behavior, reproduction, dispersal, and overwintering.
