We report the results of a five year longitudinal population genetic study of 20 black carpenter ant, Camponotus pennsylvanicus (Hymenoptera: Formicidae), sites in an urban park in Griffin , Georgia. Some sites were treated during the first year and all ants were killed. These treated sites continued to be monitored throughout the study to determine if the sites remained unoccupied.  We discuss the implications of our results for management of these pests.
