Tuesday, March 5, 2013: 1:52 PM
Louisiana Room (Hilton Baton Rouge)
The sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalis (F.), has historically been the major insect pest of sugarcane in Louisiana. In addition, the sugarcane borer attacks grasses developed for bioenergy production in the Gulf Coast Region. Field studies were conducted in St. Mary and Avoyelles Parishes, LA to evaluate sugarcane borer injury and associated yield losses in sugarcane, energycane, sweet sorghum, and high biomass sorghum.
