Polygalacturonase (PG) is an enzyme expressed in Lygus lineolaris (tarnished plant bug) saliva during feeding to break down plant pectins. Previous research has revealed the presence of at least three types of PG enzymes in L. lineolaris salivary glands and also that expression of these enzymes may change if the food source changes. This research shows the changes in PG expression of L. lineolaris fed on artificial diet, broccoli florets, cotton squares, and soybean pods.
