Insects as educational tools: An online course teaching the use of insects as instructional tools

Insects as Educational Tools is a graduate level course focused on insect biology, classification and behavior, science as inquiry, and the integration of insects and inquiry. The course is team-taught by an entomologist and teacher educator. Course topics are divided into three modules and the course is delivered asynchronously through online technologies.  Module 1 covers insect biology, classification and behavior, module 2 focuses on science as inquiry, and module 3 explores the integration of course content with inquiry teaching. This poster includes a description of the course as well as data on its impact on students’ knowledge of entomology and science inquiry, and teaching practices.
